Bryan Caditz is speaking at the Associated General Contractors’ lien law seminar scheduled for January 25, 2012. The topic will be lien waivers and releases. Discussion points will include how to effectively use waivers and releases, how to reduce exposure to lien and bond claims from lower tier contractors and suppliers, and how to avoid inadvertently waiving lien rights in progress payment applications.

Arne Hedeen and Bryan Caditz will be presenting a monthly educational program dealing with terminations, convenience terminations and deductive change orders to the Washington Cities Insurance Authority at various locations throughout the state of Washington beginning in February through June, 2012.

Arne Hedeen will be teaching a CMPM-1 Subcontracts class at the Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington on March 7, 2012. The class will include lecture, case studies and class problems and will cover key risk shifting subcontract provisions as well as management of the changes and disputes process.

On February 22, 2012, Bryan Caditz and Ed Kommers, the Executive Director of the Merchanical Contractors Association of Western Washington, will be teaching a labor law class for project managers. The class will cover several matter of interest to contractors, including terminations, grievance resolution, and dual gate issues.

Arne Hedeen will be presenting a paper at the North American Society for Trenchless Technology’s NO-DIG national convention in Nashville, Tennessee on March 13, 2012. Arne’s paper discusses a tunneling construction failure case prosecuted by Hedeen & Caditz in 2010.

On Septembr 16, 2011, Arne Hedeen and Bryan Caditz addressed the Pacific NW Steel Fabricator’s annual convention at the Salishan Resort in Oregon. Topics discussed included Washington private and public works lien and bond claim rights and how to comply with recent court decisions in Washington that require strict adherence to contractual notice provisions.

Arne Hedeen will be presenting a lecture on payment provisions at the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry on November 3, 2011 at the Washington Athletic Club.

Arne Hedeen & Bryan Caditz will be speaking at the PNSFA Annual Conference in Gleneden Beach, Oregon on September 16, 2011 regarding Washington construction liens and notice requirements in Washington after Johnson v. Spokane County.

Arne Hedeen will be speaking about Washington state competitive bidding at the Washington Construction Law seminar to be held at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center on September 15, 2011.

Arne Hedeen will be teaching a service contracts class for the Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington, along with Ken Hoving of PSR Mechanical Services, on May 26, 2011. The class will cover terms and conditions in service and repair/upgrade contracts.
