Arne Hedeen wrote an article for the Mechanical Contractors Association’s January, 2013 “E” Newsletter discussing risks associated with “Or Equal” substitutions.

Arne Hedeen will be addressing the Washington Society of Municipal and PUD Attorneys at their bi-annual meeting on December 5, 2012 at The Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, Washington. Mr. Hedeen will be discussing the “Seven Deadly Sins Public Owners Make when Assembling Contract Documents.”

On October 3, 2012, Arne Hedeen and Bryan Caditz will be presenting a primer on preserving rights under the private works lien law statute, the state public works bond and retainage statute, and the federal Miller Act to the Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington.

Arne Hedeen and Bryan Caditz, along with Megan Wells of Navigant Consulting, presented a Problem Projects educational program dealing with for cause terminations, convenience terminations, and deductive change orders to the Washington Cities Insurance Authority in Tukwila, Arlington, Lacey and Yakima during the past several months.

Arne Hedeen will be presenting Washington State Public Works Competitive Bidding and Bid Protests at the 19th Annual Washington Construction Law seminar to be held at the Washington State Trade & Convention Center on September 13-14, 2012.

Arne Hedeen will be teaching a CMPM 2 Subcontracts class at the Mechanical Contractors Association on May 1, 2012.

Bryan Caditz is speaking at the Associated General Contractors’ lien law seminar scheduled for January 25, 2012. The topic will be lien waivers and releases. Discussion points will include how to effectively use waivers and releases, how to reduce exposure to lien and bond claims from lower tier contractors and suppliers, and how to avoid inadvertently waiving lien rights in progress payment applications.

Arne Hedeen and Bryan Caditz will be presenting a monthly educational program dealing with terminations, convenience terminations and deductive change orders to the Washington Cities Insurance Authority at various locations throughout the state of Washington beginning in February through June, 2012.
